Keep Your Vehicle Running Forever with 3 Tips!

If you’re a driver in the Dartmouth, NS area that wants to keep their vehicle running longer and without issue, we’ve got good news for you! We’ve compiled a small list of tips to help keep your vehicle on the road for longer than ever before! Continue reading below to see what our agents at Fairley & Stevens Ford have for you!

1. Don’t Gun the Accelerator

We get it, it’s frustrating to be behind that slow driver on the highway, or you want to show off to your friends when you’re getting on the ramp, but you should hold off on slamming your foot down. Just because you can take your vehicle from 0-60 mph in less than five seconds doesn’t mean you should. Your car’s engine takes a beating when you push it too hard, and that can eventually lead to costly repairs.

2. Don’t Store Heavy Objects

Unless you’re driving a super-heavy-duty truck, you shouldn’t always just keep heavy objects stored in your vehicle. This can wear out your tires faster, place more strain on the vehicle, and eventually, start to wear it down. It’s recommended that you only store it for as long as you need it and no more than that.

3. Get Tune-ups Often

While many modern vehicles don’t really need tune-ups and more, or at least not nearly as many as in the past, we recommend you do so at least once a year to keep your vehicle in relatively good shape. If you can afford it, we recommend once every three or so months. This will let you spot issues as they arise and tackle them early.

These are just some of the many tips that you can use to keep your vehicle in the best possible condition while on the road. To learn more about what you can do, or to see what other tips we have, contact our dealership today!
